About the Author

I am a web developer, and I got into time card math because hand-counting hours kept going wrong. Breaks, overnight shifts, and rounding rules cause most of the errors. So I built a calculator that shows its work, then wrote guides that explain each rule in plain English.

I am not a lawyer, an accountant, or a payroll specialist. That is why every guide links to its sources, mostly U.S. Department of Labor pages. My about page explains how the calculator works and how I test it.

What I Write About

  • Counting hours, including lunch, 12-hour clocks, and decimal conversion.
  • Overtime pay, the regular rate, and weekly and daily rules.
  • Breaks, night shifts, and payroll rounding.
  • Pay periods and the errors that shorten paychecks.
